I recently attended Ai on the Lot, a 3 day event in Culver City that bills itself as the largest Ai film conference. I saw some cool talks. I met some cool people.

Whether you love Ai or hate Ai, it’s not going away. And when we talk about Ai and all the reasons to be wary of it, one thing we need to keep in mind is that Ai is a much broader area than just Babies Doing Podcasts or asking it to do your homework. Some of it is merely the next level version of search engines or VFX; some will allow us to process data at such rates as to make previously impossible leaps in medical research. I believe that fighting the future is a great way to lose. Progress - in the most agnostic sense of the word - will happen whether we want it to or not. I couldn’t stop it if I wanted to and truthfully, I don’t always want to.

And yet, there was a theme that I heard echoed throughout the conference that stuck with me.
