We have a bathroom in a bathroom in our bedroom. At some point in home design it became all the rage to put inside the en suite a separate chamber for the toilet, what you might refer to as the chamber pot chamber, the throne room, or the poop closet.
If you live inside any structure, you know how blind you can get to your own surroundings at times. While you can’t help but see particular defects, others you become immune to. That cobweb in that corner, or mark on the wall, or scratch on the floor. It’s different for all of us. Certain things drive The Husband batty, while I can’t believe that he doesn’t notice others.
There is a certain amount of self-preservation to these blind spots. You’d make yourself crazy always seeing the flaws, becoming obsessed with perfectionism, and feeling helpless about the things you can’t fix due to budget or other limitations. Acceptance is a wonderful tool.
But there is also a level of complacency that can be detrimental, too.
