Years ago when I was a mere babe of 21 or 22, I was at a meeting at Boston’s ICA. I felt like I was playing with the Big Girls, meeting with one of the museum’s directors and another local artist about collaborating on a show in their theater. As I remember it, the local artist ran a dance troupe and she was under a deadline to get a grant application in, which I had something to do with when we set the meeting. Maybe the week before hadn’t worked for her? Whatever the reason was, we knew about the situation, so when we finally met we asked her how it had gone.
“Great!” she said, “I changed the paradigm.”
